I like interesting buildings. The Capitol and the White House are two of my favorites.

State Society Reception


The State Society of Iowa held a reception for Iowans at the Capitol City Brewing on the night of January 18, 2009. It was a great time to meet up with other Iowans traveling to D.C. for the Inauguration, as well as Iowans who have now relocated to the D.C. area.

Presidential Inauguration Concert, Jan.18, 2009

Thousands of people packed the National Mall in Washington, D.C. for a free concert featuring U2, Mary J. Blige, Usher, Beyonce, Stevie Wonder, and many others. President-elect Barack Obama addressed the crowd, as did Tom Hanks and additional movie stars. Everyone was singing, dancing, and having fun.

Jefferson Jackson Dinner 08



Every year the Democratic Party in Iowa holds the Jefferson Jackson Dinner. As part of the fundraising dinner, local, state, and national politicians make speeches. There is always a key-note speech and the dinner October4, 2008, featured Al Gore.



Race For the Cure, Des Moines


2008 was the 25th anniversary of Race For the Cure. A record 24500 participants showed up for Des Moines' Race for the Cure on Sunday, October 26, 2008.
